Burn After Reading

So, moments after reading probably the most bias, idiotic, illogical piece of writing of the last month or so. I just could'nt resist, must......blog....now...ugghh. Before i get my Adam Sandler on, I just want to say that i have nothing against the Miami Heat or their superstar trio for I am now completely over the shock. Throughout I'll drop some extracts of what the idiot, i mean Mr. Benny Vargas wrote, while educating you on the real 411.

Now he touched on the fact that every GM would have jumped on the oppurtunity had they had the chance to, which is probably true. But then it got a bit, stupid for lack of a better word.
"This leads to the most astonishing thing of all. Practically every single one of you reading this right now if given the option would have done just what Pat Riley and the Heat did.
The Lakers would have traded Kobe. The Magic would've traded Dwight Howard. New York, Chicago, and New Jersey all would've loved to have the " 3 Amigos" forsake bigger contracts in order to team up in their cities. Mark Cuban would've probably chopped off another mans private parts and proceeded to take it down like Kobayashi; if it meant that the "Trio" would be wearing Maverick jerseys next season"...

Ummm, excuse me? why would the lakers trade kobe, for ANYTHING? The lakers are champions buddy, incase you dont get satelite reception in that cave of yours. And the Magic has a more complete team than the Heat at this very moment. Trading Howard would be the dumbest thing to do. And the "Cube Man"...well, he's extremely homophobic, so there you go.

"Now LeBron James will finally prove all the doubters that he is indeed the true heir to Jordan's thrown." .....Excuse me? You do know that this is Wade's team right?

"The King will return. Meaning that LeBron will be back in an NBA Finals for the first time since 2007. Once he arrives he will have the opportunity to dethrone the current ruler of the league"....Wow, I bet you were into Star Wars as a kid huh? Newsflash: using words like ruler and dethrone, doesnt make you sound poetic. I thought this was about the betterment of the team and "sacrificing their image" for a championship. I see a lot of LBJ youknowat riding going on here.

"Kobe has managed to enhance his legacy by winning a title the last two years.
Still if one takes a closer look they would notice that Kobe has once again won not thanks to his play solely. Rather Bryant has reaped the rewards of two great additions. Ron Artest and Pau Gasol have given Kobe the weapons with which to ascend back to the top of the NBA landscape."....Yep, we all knew it. Someone had to say it sooner or later. Atleast Kobe was the Michael Jordan on his team. Lebron, he's the Scottie Pippen.
Invalid argument my friend.

And last but certainly not least. this.
"Kobe for all his greatness has never dominated Dwyane. Now you add LeBron James and Chris Bosh to the mix. Bosh will offer a counter punch to the low post dominance that Gasol has given the Lakers.
Then there is James. LeBron is going to run wild on Los Angeles. He along with Wade and Bosh are a force the likes of which Kobe has never had to go up against."...1. I guess a hungry Garnett, Pierce and Allen doesnt count?
2. Gasol isnt the only dominating post player L.A has. Bynum is already on the verge of stardom, and since Bosh will most likely play center for Miami, its not Gasol he'll be up against, it will be 7'0 285pound Bynum. Goodluck with that.
And 3. LeBron, "dont have it like that." L.A's defense has been their backbone and with the addition of Artest, it will be just all the more difficult for LeBron to try and dominate the game. It will rest more on Wade, than anyone else. Your logic is flawed Vargas.

As the great Mr.Phillips once said, "this is sports, nothing is written in stone." We must not try to analyze what is not there. The 2011 Finals is yet to be determined. So until then, L.A are champs and the Heat are just another contender. And if you dont know, now you kno....dude.

It's Getting Hot in Here

Mr.Phillips here I just had to make my feelings known. So, Mr.Riley how are you doing today? wow you sir are unbelievable, my hat is off to you, only god knows what you did to swing this.

OK, bringing Wade back: amazing, getting Bosh to join:pretty awesome but acquiring Lebron:absolutely terrifying. I mean this is by far one of the most power plays we have seen in a while in the NBA the big three in Boston look like the big chumps now but I have to hand it to you, pretty good pretty good...I guess you were going with your motto "No rebounds no rings" and brought in some rebounders.

Positives: The team is hungrier, revenue to Miami will skyrocket, fans are definitely excited and this brings a playing style that could certainly spread the floor. They are three guys on the same team in the starting five who on any day have to be doubled team and when this happens someone gets open looks easy cuts and drives the whole works. So what do you do "One man defense" unfortunately this is not as good as you got three guys on the same team in the starting five who can easily take on anybody one on one. This creates problems on paper this offense is unstoppable; you got Wade that could kill you in the paint and knock down perimeter shots, you got Bosh that could get easy second chance opportunities and is quite agile in the paint and then there is Lebron who can drive, drive, drive. Wow when I'm analyzing this, it does not look good for the East people...wow...

Negatives: With such dives in the pockets the heat basically gave up some good cast members so the bench and the remainder guys in the starting five are pretty much mediocre to say the least. As terrible as the three stars sound they are still human and opposing teams above .500 will take advantage of them being on the bench this is where momentum switches and big runs might and will happen but lets hope they figure out this little chink in the armor. By the way, lets get a little hypothetical here, what if this does not work out for Miami? Surely Lebron knows that its Dwayne's team right? right? If there is a slight hint of control issues this may cause some trouble but hey Lebron can deal with being a roll player can't he?

You guys let that marinate for a little will you?
Mr.Phillips out...Peace!

New York, New York

Can any one sense the balance in power shifting from the Giants to the Jets? This looks like an intriguing season coming up people, oh my god. We all saw the dividends paid from Rex Ryan's style of old school defense which got them to the AFC finals.
The Jets are looking like a very bad man you don't wanna mess with, especially with the acquisitions of Santonio Holmes and Ladainian Tomlinson. I mean wow...this is exciting you got two veterans that can mold "Pretty Boy" Mark Sanchez into doing big things and before we move on, Sanchez has the goods and for a guy like Holmes to be receiving his passes will definitely increase their chance at making a run for the championship. There was a slight hiccup with CB Darelle Revis and his contract but that is dealt with and thank god too because that is the corner stone of the defense. I think it will all mesh for the Jets this season Tomlinson isn't the youngest buck on the block anymore but his agility is still there and we can't underestimate this guy...I'm hoping for at least 10yrds a carry.
Oh, The Giants, lets face it the Giants were horrible last season their Meltdown during the season was highly unpredictable but it happened. So guys what do we do from this point forward? Well plain and simple we could focus on WINNING notice there is so 'L' in the word, from a fan standpoint the performance in your last game in the old stadium was pathetic to say the very least but hey I'm not hating this is just a wake up call.

On the bright side of things, New Yorkers have pride and believe you guys will come out swinging I mean you just gotta...Manning get it together and Jacobs you got to get more yards per carry (please get more yards per carry) you are like a freight train.

So what I'm I basically saying? The Jets are a better team than their neighbors the Giants? Well at this juncture in my opinion...yes. However, I expect that both teams will be contenders in the playoffs, the Jets for their mixture and diversity in talent and the Giants for their pride and sheer tenacity.

Mr.Phillips Out, Peace!!

Keeping up with the Bryants

See those five dudes chilling in that photo? They're the Lakers. You know what they have right now that no one else does? A championship. That's the way Kobe likes it, that's the way Phil envisioned it and that's the way Mr.Buss, owner of the Lakers, wants to keep it. Everyone is simply playing a game of "catch up". Don't think for one moment Kobe and co. are completely oblivious to the desperate attempts teams are making to upgrade their roster. However, there's a difference between paying attention and actually caring.

Take for instance, The south beach splashers Miami Heat. They dropped a few jaws and widened a few eyes around the league with the acquisition of Chris Bosh. This, however, does not automatically guarantee the Heat the Larry O'Brien trophy come next season (and note to Chris Bosh: neither does your haircut). There's still an enormous amount of work left to do in Wade county. With only two players legitimately still on contract, a hectic and busy off season awaits GM Pat Riley. Though when given the appropriate pieces and a befitting salary of which to toy with, Riley has not failed to disappoint. Bet the Lakers are really shaking in their size 16's.

The Knicks, realistically, still has a chance at landing LeBron James aka "The Him". Interestingly enough, speculation of LBJ in NY has increased stock of MSG Inc. by 6% percent. By the way did I mention it was based on sheer speculation? Amar'e Stoudemire is not the apple of the Big Apple's eyes. He is simply a showpiece to attract LBJ to the bright lights and Madison Ave. However, though LeBron is primarily focused on branding himself and maintaining his image, his decision will almost certainly be strictly basketball based, where he feels he can best win. Something Knicks cannot guarantee. The Knicks will walk away the busts of this free agent summer if "The Him" is not in a Knick uniform this coming season. Not to mention all that hard work placed into "temporary demise" for the past two seasons will be all in vain. Again, Not like the Lakers care.

The Bulls have increased their chance at sneaking away with the Larry O'Brien trophy by the addition of Carlos Boozer to their already talented core. How effective is this addition? I would assume not very. Though Boozer brings a much needed offensive low-post game, he lacks size and his defense remains an issue. A problem the Lakers are happy not to have. Boozer should make an immediate impact, but not a monumental one.

The Cavs still await for their coveted superstar to leak his decision. He'll probably just do it in front of reporters like all the other NBA players do right? Nope, not LeBron. He does it prime time with his very own hour blocked off, which ESPN treated as though its the Super Bowl immediately clearing three hours in advance for "The Decision" pre-announcement show. Ratio should be something like this: 15 seconds of info into 240 minutes of air time. Its all really too much now. Too hyped. Too egocentric. Too too. No intention of turning it into a LeBron affair now. Even if he returns, He'll be entering the 2010-2011 season with practically the exact team he lost with in the 2009-2010 season. Oh wait, Byron Scott's on board now. So. And.

As for the other 27 teams, make your move. And make it a good one. The Lakers will be waiting.

Rings. Championships. Admiration. Respect. Hearts. Minds. These are the things players play for, coaches coach for. The reasons GM's and Owners break the cheque books for. Not for accolades and trophies. These things the Lakers already have. But you know, who cares right.

The King of Clay or Something More?

Ever since bursting onto the scene Rafael Nadal or "Rafa" as we like to call him he has shown us the sheer ferocity and explosiveness he has brought to the game which we have grown to watch in utter amazement since a guy named Roger something.

From his passing shots to his running down of balls and to his incredible top Spin Rafa brings us a style of play that is admirable and downright wonderful to watch. I could be wrong but I think we started noticing this star in the making when he won the Monte Carlo championship against Guillermo Corea at only the age of 18 at this was the same year he won his first Rolland Garros.

From the start of his career the prowess he had on clay was a delight to witness and thus, resulting in the alias "The King of Clay" his record on the Clay courts are astonishing to say the least (may even be an under statement) but 5 Rolland Garros, 2 Wimbledon and 1 Australian Titles now to the stars name can we say that the King of Clay could be something more he is clearly solidifying his dominance in the tennis world and only at the age of 24 and to have 8 championships to his name (along the likes of Agassi) is truly amazing and I think its sae to say Rafa is a phenom like none other in this game.

He is definitely in the debate as one of the greats and has definitely deterred Federer from getting more titles to his name, lets face it if Rafa was not kicked out of the French last year by Soderling I think Rolland Garros would have always eluded the Swiss Great but I am not debating about who is better Rafa or Roger because that debate is pointless, what Roger has done for the game is greatly appreciated and can never be duplicated the level of dominance he played with was unbelievable.

However, we cannot rule out that a new Sheriff is town and as hard as Roger is battling sooner or later he would have to pass on the torch to Rafa. I mean Rafa still has to be more consistent on the Hard Courts and maybe the U.S. maybe his Achilles heel but time is certainly on his side in chasing the Career Grand Slam (which really solidifies you as the greats to have played).

This generation of Tennis Players are filled with amazing talent but it is all too clear that Rafa the "King of the Court" is ahead of the Pack

Introducing Mr. Phillips

Here, We the junkiez are delighted to add another member in our Sports Junkiez family. Mr. Phillips, as he will liked to be called, is a very talented, realistic, equitable writer and I'm sure you will all love his work, Ladies and Gents...Mr. Phillips!

*UPDATE!*

Earlier it was reported that Bosh will be leaving Toronto to join Dwayne Wade and co. in Miami. There still have yet to make any progress as far as an official contract is concerned. "I'm so glad it's over" Wade told reporters. " I had to do what was best for me and I know i did that". Both seemed thrilled about the idea of playing together in pursuit of a championship. A lot is still to be determined in Miami as the what they would do with small forward Michael Beasley, and where their other 8 players are coming from, but atleast its a start.

Meanwhile, Chicago has made a splash of their own inking power forward Carlos Boozer from Utah to join the already talented core of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah. The contract is reported to be worth a lucrative five-year, 80 million dollar deal. This gives the Bulls some solace on the day that Wade and Bosh decided to stiff the Bulls and head southwest instead. LeBron has still yet to give word on where he'll play next season. He is expected to deliver his much anticipated decision tomorro night on ESPN during his primetime one hour special at 9 p.m
